Marlon and Jennifer Camposagrado had a good feeling when buying tickets for the Lotto 6/49 draw on Feb. 8, so they decided to purchase an additional ticket.
That good feeling made the Vancouver couple millionaires, as the extra ticket ended up winning a $1-million prize.
Initially, Marlon thought they had won $1,000 and he was already thrilled about that.
“I was just so happy seeing that number I decided to go to London Drugs to cash out,” he explained.
“When I got there the lady said, ‘No, wait a minute let me call someone!’ That’s when I found out and I called Jennifer right away.”
As is often the case when a significant other shares news of a lottery win this big, Jennifer didn’t believe Marlon when he first told her.
“I was so shocked,” she said. “I started crying happy tears at first and then needed a moment to take it in!”
But she had to shake off that feeling quickly because she was about to head into work.
She and Marlon both shared that life for them is about showing up for others and they’re very dedicated to their work even after the life-changing win.
A milestone birthday is coming up for the couple so they’ll celebrate it and the win in a “big way,” but will also put the money away for retirement.
Also in the works is a trip to visit their family in the Philippines.
The winning ticket was purchased and validated at the London Drugs on Victoria Drive and 41st Avenue in Vancouver.
