BC man and wife eyeing retirement and world travel after $1M lotto win

James Honeyman was about to hit the links when he decided to check his ticket from the July 23 Lotto 6/49 draw.

That’s when the Nanaimo resident saw the $1,000,000 prize pop up on his BCLC Lotto app and his life changed in an instant.

He called it “unbelievable.”

“I was up early,” he explained of the Sunday morning when he checked his ticket. “When I told my wife I won, she didn’t believe me at first.”

Who knows if it has sunk in for her yet, but it will likely feel more like reality once they start travelling with their newfound fortune.

“It has always been on our bucket list to go on a cruise through the Panama Canal,” explained Honeyman. “I’ve been looking into a luxury cruise!”

“It’s life changing! It means my wife and I can enjoy our retirement and go on trips we’ve always wanted to take.”
