BC man plans to share $1M lotto prize with kids and grandchildren

British Columbia’s newest millionaire was enjoying a cup of coffee when he discovered his good fortune from the Oct. 13 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I couldn’t stop looking at the ticket,” Bruce Robar explained.

The Dawson Creek resident couldn’t stop looking at the ticket because it had won him the $1 million Guaranteed Prize from that October draw.

He couldn’t wait to share the news with his daughter and when he did, she didn’t even believe him at first.

“She was at work when I told her and she had to try her hardest to keep quiet because she was so happy for me,” said Robar.

While she was obviously excited for her dad, the windfall will certainly affect her life in a positive way.

Robar said he plans on sharing some of his prize with his kids and grandchildren, and is also looking forward to taking a trip to Eastern Canada to visit his two brothers.

“This win is going to make life easier for me and will give me the opportunity to help out my family,” Robar added. “I am happy!”

The winning ticket, a Quick Pick ticket, was purchased at Spikes Pub on 10th Street in Dawson Creek.
