B.C. driver gets 2 distracted driving tickets 100 feet apart

It seems to happen every couple of months now.

Drivers that don’t only not learn their lesson after a distracted driving ticket, but drivers that don’t learn their lesson for even a few seconds.

It happened again in New Westminister this morning when police pulled over a car and ticketed the driver for distracted driving.

According to a tweet from the New Westminster Police Department’s (NWPD) traffic department, the driver drove 100 feet after receiving the ticket and stopped at a red light.

Lo and behold, the same officer who just ticketed the driver pulls up beside the car and observes the guilty party with their “phone in hand, plugging it in.”

The two tickets earned the distracted driver $736 in fines and eight points against their license, which is quite the blow for mere minutes of work.

The message here: Do yourself and your fellow motorists a favour and put the phone away while you're driving!
