Legendary punk rocker Joey Sh*thead elected to seat on city council

Legendary Canadian punk rocker Joe Keithley is officially a member of Burnaby’s city council.

Formerly known as Joey Sh*thead, frontman of punk band D.O.A, Keithley was elected as one of the city’s eight council members over the weekend.

Keeping with punk rocks anti-establishment roots, the Burnaby Green Party member is the only councillor not representing the Burnaby Citizens Association (BCA).

Keithley’s band D.O.A. is iconic in the world of punk-rock, often referred to as one of the founders of sub-genre “hardcore punk” along with Black Flag and Bad Brains.

The band has long been known for its outspoken political opinions, touting the slogan "Talk Minus Action Equals Zero."
