Man exposes genitals to 8-year-old girl at BC school: police

The Vancouver Police Department is working diligently to identify a man who allegedly exposed himself to a young girl at a local elementary school.

In the meantime, police are urging residents in the area to be vigilant.

The incident happened at Lord Roberts Elementary School in downtown Vancouver between 2-2:30 pm on Monday.

According to police, the unknown man approached an eight-year-old girl on the playground and exposed his genitals to her.

He fled the area before police could arrive.

“A child should never have to be exposed to such a disturbing act,” said Cst. Tania Visintin.

“There’s no doubt this would have frightened the young student. She did the right thing by telling a trusted adult immediately.”

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man between 55 and 65 years of age.

He’s estimated to be between 5’9” and 6’0” with short, light-brown and grey hair and grey stubble.

At the time, he was wearing a tan or olive colour baseball hat and a burgundy bomber jacket while carrying a messenger bag.

“Investigators are still in the very early stages of the investigation,” added Visintin.

“Our goal right now is to bring awareness to the public and for parents and guardians to have a talk with their children.”

No further information is being released at this time, as the file remains under investigation.
