A man has been rescued after going overboard on a BC Ferries sailing this morning.
BC Ferries tweeted about the incident at 9:14 a.m., saying the Queen of Cowichan’s arrival to Departure Bay in Nanaimo would be delayed.

A rescue boat from the ship was deployed and within 20 minutes the man had been rescued.
According to the ferry service, the man went overboard near Bowen Island, not far from the Horseshoe Bay terminal.

“(The) Queen of Cowichan has responded to and rescued a person overboard near Bowen Island,” read a tweet from BC Ferries.
“The vessel is currently working with (the) Coast Guard and will return to regular operations as soon as possible.”

The Queen of Cowichan has resumed normal service, but is running 60 minutes behind schedule.
There’s no word yet on why the man went overboard, but NowMedia will update this story as more information becomes available.
