Mounties investigating viral video of a personal watercraft riding under a ferry

Police on BC’s Sunshine Coast are investigating a viral video that shows a person riding a personal watercraft underneath the overhang of a BC Ferries vessel.

A post shared by Take Me Boating (@takeme.boating)

“Operating a personal watercraft beneath the stern overhang of a moving ferry is extremely dangerous and could result in serious injury or death,” said Cpl. Philip Atoui.

“Risking your life for social media content is reckless and irresponsible. Luckily, no one was injured in this instance.”

While the exact date of location of the incident have not been confirmed, police did state that it involved the Queen of Coquitlam ferry.

Police added that they have been in communication with BC Ferries and Transport Canada and an investigation into the matter remains ongoing

“If you observe dangerous or unsafe operation of a watercraft, please call 911 to immediately report it,” wrote the RCMP.

“Anyone with more details about this incident is encouraged to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file # 2025-4280.”
