A Victoria man is one step closer to his goal of purchasing a home after a monumental lottery win earlier this month.
Beau Williams’ life-changing win came in the June 7 Lotto Max draw, when he won a $1-million Maxmillions prize.
“I was at a Save-On-Foods and had to check my ticket five times because I didn’t believe it. I gave it to the cashier to check and I was in disbelief,” said Williams.
“My girlfriend was the first person I shared the news with — she was excited, and also in disbelief!”
While Williams is looking at a new home with his winnings, he is also looking to leave home for a trip that is more than two years in the making.
“I’ve always wanted to do a road trip across Canada,” he explained. “A couple years ago, my girlfriend and I were going to drive across the country and then COVID hit.”
As for how it feels to win $1-million?
“It takes a lot of stress off of me,” Williams noted. “It’s unreal!”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Shoppers Drug Mart on West Saanich Road.
