A popular spring attraction in the Fraser Valley is now open for business.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival opened for the 2019 season over the weekend, an early opening thanks to the recent good weather.
Flower fans, Instagram influencers and many others flocked to the festival’s opening weekend.
The flowers are currently in low bloom, which means the field is showing both green buds and colour
Low bloom is a great time for people who want to enjoy the tulips, avoid the crowds and save a little money on tickets to check out the attraction.
As the four to five week festival progresses, the tulips will get into high bloom, which means more colour, bigger crowds and more expensive tickets.
If you’re heading to the Lower Mainland over the next month or so, a stop at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival should definitely be on your to-do list.
There’s no set date for the festival to close, as it depends on the bloom from year to year, but it typically lasts until around the May long weekend.
