Travel restrictions extended, BC plans to resume provincial recreational travel in mid-June

Today, the BC Government announced their plan to restart the province as the vaccination roll-out progresses and COVID-19 cases decline.

Indoor dining, indoor religious gatherings and limited social gatherings are allowed once again, however British Columbians will have to wait a little longer to travel recreationally in BC.

Travel restrictions limiting people to their current health region are being extended until mid-June.

Enforcement of restrictions will continue until then.

On June 15 at the earliest, those restrictions will end, meaning BC residents will be able to explore the province again. It will be up to travellers to check local advisories.

The government’s four-phase plan says that they expect to be able to lift the provincial state of emergency and public health emergency by the beginning of July.

People may be able to start thinking about hosting friends and family from other provinces, as July is expected to mark the resumption of travel across Canada.

Normal social contact is planned to resume by the beginning of September.
