A man behind the infamous stabbing at a Vancouver Tim Hortons in January 2022 has been arrested again.
David Richard Morin was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant at his Vancouver halfway house Monday afternoon.
A release from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says the "violent offender" breached conditions of his statutory release that forbid him from consuming illicit drugs or alcohol.
Morin’s unprovoked stabbing attack on a Mexican national in the early-morning hours of Jan. 22, 2022, made national headlines.
He was arrested three days later and charged with aggravated assault, pleading guilty to the charge and receiving a three-year jail sentence on June 14, 2022.
However, Morin was released from custody after almost exactly two years after being sentenced, which prompted a public warning from the VPD.
“Police believe Morin poses a high risk of significant harm to the community and that compelling circumstances exist to warn the public that he will be living in Vancouver,” the warning read.
Morin is being held in custody at this time.
