(Update: Nov. 25 @ 10 am): Police have released more details about a serious collision that closed Sooke Road yesterday for several hours.
At about 11:30 am, the West Shore RCMP received a call about a head-on collision involving a cube truck and a Mazda CX5 near the 3800 block of Sooke Road in Langford.
Police shut the road down in both directions while emergency crews were tending to the scene.
The road was later opened up at 2 pm.
Police determined the cube truck veered into the oncoming lane and collided with the Mazda. The driver of the Mazda, a 56-year-old woman, was the only occupant of her vehicle and was taken to hospital to be assessed for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Impairment has been ruled out as a possible cause for the collision.
“The collision is still under investigation, and police are working to determine why the driver of the cube truck veered into the oncoming lane,” police said.
