It could cost up to $1 million dollars to re-open Hwy 97, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has said.
Mike Lorimer, the regional director for the Southern Interior, said work at the site has so far cost between $300–350,000.
If the work on the Callan Road detour is factored in, the cost so far is about $500,000.

“If the remainder of the work just involves clearing the site to reopen the road, it could be another $300-400,000,” he added.
“If there is significant work required including rock fall mitigation measures, it could reach a million dollars.”
Hwy 97 has been shut to traffic between Peachland and Summerland since rockfall obstructed the road on Feb. 2.
Earlier Friday, the ministry said there has been no slide movement in the past two days.
Geotechnical assessments are ongoing.
