My name is Rob Wilson, I'm a 23-year-old lifestyle, portrait and travel photographer originally from the Cowichan Valley and now living in Victoria. I spend most of my time shooting and editing photos and love to combine my photography with my passion for adventure, whether exploring the Island or far beyond it.

Why do you use Instagram?

I originally started using Instagram without much thought, just as a place to collect photos I'd shoot here and there mostly on my phone. Now I use Instagram as a source of inspiration as well as a portfolio and business tool. Many of the places I go out and explore are places I found on Instagram so I love it for that.

What will people see on your feed?

The majority of my feed is my friends out on some kind of adventure, usually in the outdoors, but not exclusively. I also throw in a landscape or car shot once in a while. Basically, my feed is a reflection of my day to day adventures. Some planned and farther away from home, others impromptu and just a walk away.

Does your page have a specific style?

I would say my page's style is lifestyle.

Favourite Instagram accounts to follow?

This is a tough one but shouts out to @alexstrohl, @andrewtkearns, @benjaminhardmin, @jaredchambers and who could forget @bcferriesmemes.

How do you decide on your location for shoots?

When I'm out shooting with my friends, the location choice is usually very casual and impromptu. If I'm not shooting somewhere I've been before, I usually find locations online via Instagram or just scanning around Google Maps. I've also found many rad places by just walking/driving down random roads.

Deciding on locations for client work is, of course, more involved with more planning and consultation with the client. Again though, Instagram and Google Maps are a great way to find places to shoot or just explore.

Biggest Instagram moment?

Hard to say. Maybe the real Instagram moment was the friends we made along the way.

Favourite hashtags?

Probably #pnw, #pnwonderland, #explorecanada, #explorebc.

Why do you follow VictoriaBCNow?

To stay up-to-date on what's happening in my city and to see the inspiring content others in Victoria are producing.
