A Comox Valley man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several indecent acts in the Comox Valley.
The RCMP started investigating after two incidents that were reported on Aug. 12, 2022. Two women told people about a man who exposed himself to them, and started masturbating in front of them.
Then, on Aug. 14, 2022, Mounties received another report of a man who was exposing himself to a woman as he followed her in Comox.
With the assistance of a Police Services Dog, officers were able to contain the area, locate and arrest a suspect.
The suspect matched the description of the man reported in the earlier incidents, and members of the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit worked to gather sufficient evidence to link all of the incidents together.
"The collaboration between our frontline members, police dog services, community members, and our major crime investigators facilitated a quick resolution to these incidents," said Cpl. Matt Holst, Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit.
"We hope that this provides some resolution to all involved and wish to thank the public for their assistance."
The 21-year old man pled guilty in Nanaimo Provincial court to two counts of indecent act in a public place and one count of exposing his genitals to someone under the age of 16.
He was sentenced to 31 days in custody (in addition to his time served) and two years of probation.
He is also required to successfully complete treatment and counselling programs and provide a DNA sample to be added to the National Databank.
