(Update: March 10, 2021): Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Glacier View Lodge long-term care home in Courtenay.
Island Health declared an outbreak at Glacier View Lodge on February 28 after one staff member tested positive for COVID-19. No other cases in residents or staff were identified through extensive follow-up testing.

Island Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Glacier View Lodge long-term care home in Courtenay.
According to a statement from the health authority, one staff person has tested positive for COVID-19 at the site. At this time, no residents are experiencing symptoms.
Glacier View Lodge is a not for profit long-term care home operated by Glacier View Lodge Society.
The staff member who tested positive is self-isolating at home. The outbreak is limited to two wings within the facility. COVID-19 testing will be done for staff and residents who worked with the affected staff member.
Health officials are working to identify anyone who may have been exposed.
Admissions and visitors are being restricted and staffing levels will be maintained to provide resident care.
Staff and resident movement in the facility has been restricted, and screening is taking place twice a day.
