Police, search and rescue looking for overdue hiker in Strathcona Provincial Park

Search and rescue officials and the RCMP are looking for a 30-year-old man who went missing over the weekend in Strathcona Provincial Park.

According to police, Christopher Jensen was last seen at Crest Mountain on Sunday. He was on a planned hiking trip with friends, but failed to return home.

According to BC Parks, Strathcona park is a rugged mountain wilderness comprising more than 250,000 hectares. Many hiking blogs describe the Crest Mountain hike as very difficult.

Police are asking anyone who was hiking in the area, or anyone who may have picked up a hitchhiker on Highway 28 between Gold River and Campbell River to contact the Nootka Sound RCMP at 250-283-2227, and cite file 2021-272.

Christopher is described as;

  • Caucasian Man
  • 30-years-old
  • 6 Ft 2 inches
  • Blue eyes
  • Brown hair

He was last seen wearing;

  • Black T-shirt
  • Black ball cap
  • Black pants
  • Black work boots
