Woman from Qualicum Beach $50K richer after buying scratch and win ticket

A resident of Qualicum Beach is experiencing “all the feels” after winning $50,000 on a scratch and win ticket.

Karen Trimble won after buying a Maximum Gold scratch and win ticket from Coombs Corner Petro-Canada on the Alberni Highway.

She was enjoying a cup of coffee after work when she scratched her ticket.

“At first, I didn’t believe it and had to check and recheck the ticket,” she said. “I even read the instructions on the back of the ticket to confirm that I had won!”

Trimble immediately signed her ticket and returned to Petro-Canada to check it.

“The first thing that crossed my mind was ‘is this real and really happening?’ It’s unbelievable.”

Trimble has a few plans for her prize which include treating her family and herself to a few gifts, donating some to a local charity and saving for retirement.

On how it feels to win, Trimble says “For me, it’s absolute gratitude.”
