Video surveillance from a member of the public helped police nab a Vernon woman who’s suspected of stealing a number of packages over three days.
The North Okanagan RCMP received several reports of package thefts from residential properties in the Vernon area between Sept. 9-11.
The unknown suspects were also targeting ornamental lawn displays.
Finally, police got the break they needed as a member of the public provided video surveillance, which gave the RCMP a description of the suspect and the vehicle being used.
Then, in the early hours of Sept. 12, the suspect vehicle was spotted driving along 25th Avenue, so an officer pulled it over and recognized the driver as the suspect from the video.
The driver was arrested at the scene, as stolen property was found in her vehicle.
The 45-year-old Vernon woman now faces charges of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
She was released from custody pending her next court appearance.
