(Original story: Nov. 3, 2023):
Multiple animals have been removed from a property in Ladysmith following an investigation by the BC SPCA.
Spokesperson Eileen Drever confirmed to VictoriaNow that they received concerns about the well being of animals at a property on Adshead Road in August of 2023.
Animal protection officers attended to determine if animals were in distress, and as a result of that visit a number of notices were issued to the caregiver, said Drever.
She explained that, if an animal caregiver fails to relieve the distress then their officers may have to take legal action, including a search warrant.
A warrant was executed on Oct. 31, 2023, which resulted in a number of animals, including dogs, cats, goats and chickens, being taken from the property.
The BC SPCA says it will be recommending charges to Crown Counsel once the investigation is complete.
