(UPDATE @ 1:50 PM): Police are now evacuating homes and businesses near the scene of an attempted armed bank robbery in Saanich due to the presence of a potential explosive device.
Areas affected are in close proximity to the bank, which is located at the intersection of Shelbourne St and Pear St.
Police are asking people to continue to avoid the area, and to not post about the locations of officers in the area.
(UPDATE @12:30 PM): Police are advising the public to shelter in place due to a police incident at a bank on Shelbourne Street.
Police say they have two suspects in custody, and are searching for a third possible suspect.
If you are in the area of North Dairy Road to Cedar Hill X Road and Richmond Road to Cedar Hill Road, you are asked to take shelter or stay in your homes.

Saanich Police are responding to an unfolding situation on Shelbourne Street and Pear Street.
Police said they responded to a report of armed suspects at a bank in the 3600-blk of Shelbourne Street.
They added that there was an exchange of gunfire, and multiple people have been injured.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
