After spending two days searching a refined area of the Sooke Potholes area, the second search effort for Melissa McDevitt has been suspended.
On Saturday and Sunday Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue led an exhaustive search for McDevitt in the Charters River area.
Sooke RCMP announced that the search would take place last week after new information was discovered related to her disappearance.
A number of other Search and Rescue (SAR) agencies from across the region also showed up to lend their support, but despite the best efforts of about 80 searchers from 11 agencies, nothing of obvious significance was located.
“We would like to acknowledge the significant efforts of Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue and all other assisting SAR agencies during this search period, particularly through challenging terrain during very warm weekend weather. The RCMP will continue to investigate Melissa’s disappearance in pursuit of answers for the McDevitt family,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw or Sooke RCMP.
Anyone with information about Melissa McDevitt’s disappearance is asked to call the Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241.
