Victoria City Councillor Sharmarke Dubow has announced that he does not intend to run in the municipal election this year.
Dubow shared the news on Twitter this morning.
After much thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming municipal election in October. After much thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming municipal election in October. In the meantime, I will continue to serve the people of the City of Victoria and push for meaningful change,” he said.
He added that it is time to continue his learning and explore other opportunities — and to take a step away from public office.
“I ran for office because I love this community and I wanted to be a part of pushing it to become more inclusive at the decision making table,” Dubow said.
“The world is changing and evolving and so we need our ideas and policies to do the same. I’m excited to learn more about how I can be a part of that change.”
