This Sunday, the Pride parade and festival will be returning to Victoria.
After having to take a bit of a break from in person events, this year’s Pride is expected to be bigger and better than ever, with a brand new route.
The highly anticipated event kicks off at 11 am, and is expected to bring in over 40,000 spectators.
This year, the parade will start in Victoria West, and take marchers east, then south onto Wharf Street — providing scenic water views before turning onto Government, Belleville and Menzies Streets.
Foot traffic will be directed down Kingston, then left onto Oswego towards MacDonald Park.
An hour before the parade, a festival will start at MacDonald Park in James Bay.
There you’ll find a family-friendly atmosphere full of activities such as Drag Queen Storytime and a bouncy castle. Then, in the later afternoon, there will be a transition to music, dance, live bands and some of the best drag talent in Canada.
And, for the first time the festival grounds will be entirely fenced in and licensed, creating a dynamic, festive atmosphere.
