Today marks 32 years since the disappearance of 4-year-old Michael Dunahee.
On March 24, 1991, at about 12:30 pm, Michael went missing from the area of the Blanshard School playground, just a short distance away from his family.
According to the Victoria Police, many families and spectators were in the area at the time for a touch football game.
An extensive search was launched for Michael, which involved hundreds of volunteers and police from multiple agencies.
The investigation into Michael’s disappearance remains one of the most notable missing person investigations in Canada, with the case being picked up by a notable podcast, Island Crime, last year.
This Sunday is the 32nd annual remembrance walk for Michael in Esquimalt. The five kilometre walk is wheelchair, stroller and pet-friendly, and funds raised by the event go to Child Find BC.
People can join in on the walk in person, or from wherever you wish to participate from. You can register for the event here.
