Vendors and food trucks are set to return to the Inner Harbour in downtown Victoria this summer.
The not-for-profit Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) announced today that they will bring back a modified and smaller version of the Inner Harbour Summer Line Up along the Lower Causeway.
The GVHA says measures will be in place to ensure safe distancing and protection for artisans, vendors, food vendors, and causeway users.
Spaces for artisans and vendors will be cut in half this year, with 23 spots along three sides of the causeway.
“Relaunching the Inner Harbour Summer Line Up will bring life back to the Lower Causeway, which is part of the centre of tourism for the downtown core,” said Ian Robertson, CEO, Greater Victoria Harbour Authority.
The vendor will be set up daily between 10 am and 10 pm starting on May 1, 2021, and ending on Sept. 12, 2021.
Visitors will find everything from handmade jewelry and artwork to lemonade and mini donuts.
Masks will be worn by all vendors to ensure an “added layer of protection.”
“I am very appreciative of the chance to return to the Inner Harbour after these uncertain times,” said Mike Hill, one of the causeway artisans. “As a twenty-year participant of the Victoria waterfront scene, I am excited to bring my jewelry back to the causeway and I look forward to seeing all the folks who come down and support the local artists.”
This year, there will also be a food truck space at the east end of Ship Point, closest to the 3D Canada sign.
There, a selection of takeaway food options from Songhees Seafood & Steam, Cup-A-Roni, and Bubble on the Run will be featured. Additionally, Hot Dog Hustling, The Lemon, Elixir, and Empire Donuts will be set up along the Lower Causeway.
The Songhees Nation artisans will also be along the south apron of the causeway, below the Welcome to Victoria flower garden.
