Oak Bay Police pulled a Victoria driver over on the weekend and discovered an imitation police badge in his vehicle.
Police said that the 25-year-old man received a violation ticket after failing to stop at King George Terrace and Beach Drive on Saturday at 2 pm.
During the traffic stop, the officer noticed what appeared to be a police badge hanging from the rear-view mirror of the Ford Mustang.
The badge was inscribed with “Special Police,” and a police agency from the Greater Victoria area was referenced on the back.
The Oak Bay Police said that it was seized due to it being displayed in a way that was likely to cause others to believe the driver was a police officer.
Charges are not being considered, however, as the driver had not been actively using the badge for personal gain or to commit any kind of offence.
