West Kelowna property tax notices in the mail

West Kelowna’s 2023 property tax notices are in the mail this week.

The city says people who have registered for e-billing have received their notices by email.

All West Kelowna residents are encouraged to ensure they pay their taxes by 4:30 pm on Tuesday, July 4 to avoid a 10% penalty.

“Regardless of whether you pay taxes to us in-person, through your bank, via a mortgage company or through a City prepayment plan, you must still separately claim your Home Owner Grant with the Province before the deadline,” says the city in a release.

To claim the Home Owner Grant, visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or call 1-888-355-2700.

The city reminds homeowners that Monday, July 3 is a statutory holiday and may delay payments through your bank.

West Kelowna home owners can pay your property tax in the following ways:

  • Pay online through your bank

    • Select WEST KELOWNA – TAXES as the payee

    • Use your your roll number starting with 364 (don’t add dashes, spaces or periods), which can be found in your account number

    • Record your transaction through confirmation

  • Pay by cheque through the city’s 24/7 drop box next to the main entrance at city hall

  • Pay in person at city hall

If you plan on paying in person, prepare for lines and wait times. The city accepts cheques and debit payments but does not accept credit cards.

In addition, if you are enrolled in our Pre-Authorized Payment Plan, visit online.westkelownacity.ca and log in to check your balance and make sure you have no amounts owing on your account for 2023 taxes.

West Kelowna City Council unanimously adopted the 2023 budget and Five-Year Financial Plan which includes a 5% for this year’s municipal taxes.

The value for taxes is directly attributed to the delivery of programs, services, and other Council Strategic Priorities, based on ongoing community input, says the city in news release.
