We are arguably in one of the darkest periods in Vancouver Canucks history, which is saying a lot for a franchise that has had its fair share of heartbreak over the years.
Three coaches in 14 months, a capped out team that isn’t close to competing and, most recently, an embarrassing 6-1 loss at the hands of the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken are in their second year of existence and already appear to be set up far better for the future than their rivals just two hours away up the I5.
It’s so bad for the Canucks right now that fans are even taking shots at the team from beyond the grave.
Earlier this month, Canucks fan Russell Atkins passed away on Vancouver Island and his obituary took one final shot at his favourite hockey team.
“Russell would’ve liked to have had six of the Vancouver Canucks to be his pallbearers so they could have let him down one more time,” the final line of the obituary reads.
On one hand, ouch, that’s a low blow, but on the other hand, Canucks fans across BC, including the author of this story, are likely feeling the exact same way as Atkins.
It can only get better from here, right? Right?...
