Victoria's Owen Beckner has been selected by the Ottawa Senators in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Beckner spent the past two seasons with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL) in which he suited up in 95 games recording 21 goals and adding 39 assists for 60 points.
The 18-year-old also committed to Colorado College (NCAA) during this past season.
Before his time in Salmon Arm, Beckner suited up for the St. Georges Prep School between his U15 - U18 seasons.
He has been a sought after player for a majority of his life as he was also previously selected by the Regina Pats (WHL) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft and more recently taken by the Tri-City Storm (USHL) in the 2023 USHL Entry Draft.
The 6'2' and 181 lbs. centre is coming off an impressive season with the Silverbacks as he was a driving force for the team as they reached the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 10 seasons.
His individual play didn't go unnoticed as he was named to the 2023 BCHL All-Star game.

He was ranked 86th amongst North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting ahead of the NHL Draft.
