June 2019 wrap-up: The drying trend continues

June is typically the wettest month of the year in the Kelowna area. In June 2019, we received 27.1mm of rain, compared to the June average of 45.9mm.

That translates to only 59% of the monthly average.

We have seen very dry conditions in the last few months. From March to May of this year, we saw less than 50% of our average seasonal monthly precipitation amounts.

Our temperatures last month were near seasonal.

The average daytime high was 25.6C and the average overnight low was 11.8C, compared to seasonal maximum and minimum temperatures of 24.2C and 9.1C.

These seasonal temperatures are based on data between the years of 1981 to 2010.

We had 7 days over 30C last month, with the hottest day on Thursday, June 13 peaking at 35.3C. The coolest day was Sunday, June 9 when we dipped down to 6.9C in the early morning hours.

Enjoy your sunny and warm Canada Day, and the chance of showers return on Tuesday.
