Snowfall warning issued for Hwy 97 in the northern Interior

Travellers looking to go between the North Thompson and the Cariboo should be aware of a special weather statement in effect.

According to Environment Canada, a snowfall warning has been put in place for Hwy 97 between Clinton and 100 Mile House. A further 5 cm of snow is expected to fall in the Chilcotin-Cariboo-100 Mile region.

"A frontal system will remain draped across the Chilcotin-Cariboo-100 Mile region today but temperatures are forecast to warm a few degrees above zero this afternoon so snow should turn to rain by mid-day," wrote Environment Canada.

"Rain may turn back to snow again overnight and early Thursday morning but accumulations are not expected to be significant."

With snowfall comes hazardous road conditions. Travellers are encouraged to be prepared.
