Beer column: It’s hazy, it’s sessionable, and it begs to be drunk in an Adirondack chair

We’re still two months away from the official start of summer, but that summer feeling almost always arrives early as we start to enjoy warmer and longer days during the spring.

And for craft beer drinkers, that usually means a relatively quick shift from winter brews to something a little more refreshing that you can enjoy in the sunshine.

This column is no different, as I have already begun the transition into focusing on beers you can enjoy this summer and this week’s feature is a continuation of that.

It’s the Up The Lake Hazy Tart ISA and it comes from a small brewery in beautiful Powell River called Townsite Brewing.

While this bad boy is a new creation, it may look familiar because it’s a reinvention of a similar beer by the same name that Townsite produced in recent years.

According to the brewery, the new Up The Lake has a fresh look and it’s a hazier concoction than its predecessor.

“This brew has a fruity nose, notes of tangerine and exotic fruits, and a hoppy dry finish,” Townsite explains.

They add that it may not be lake season yet, but this “summery sipper” is the perfect beverage to enjoy while cozied up in an Adirondack chair.

While Townsite may be a lesser-known craft brewery in British Columbia, they quietly go about their business in the northern Sunshine Coast and produce some great beers with gorgeous branding.

You won’t be able to find their creations everywhere, but keep an eye out for the Up The Lake Hazy Tart ISA and other Townsite creations at craft-focused liquor stores around the province.
