Temperatures are expected to warm up for communities such as Sun Peaks, Heffley Creek, Barriere, Little Fort, Blackpool and Clearwater.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for North Thompson Tuesday.
The agency is forecasting daytime highs in the low 30s with overnight lows near 14ºC to begin Tuesday and last into Friday.
“A ridge of high pressure over BC is bringing high temperatures to the region,” explains Environment Canada.
“Above seasonal daytime temperatures combined with elevated overnight temperatures will mean little relief from the heat.”
A heat warning is also in place for the Fraser Canyon, including Lytton, which is expected to bring daytime highs of 35ºC and overnight lows of 18ºC this week.
Temperatures are expected to cool off over the weekend before warming up again next week.
Residents are advised to be aware of the effects of extreme heat and take precautions to keep themselves safe.
Be sure to drink plenty of water, stay in a cool place if you can and check on vulnerable people such as seniors.
