A former professional mixed martial arts fighter who pleaded guilty to assault and two counts of assault causing bodily harm will not serve time behind bars.
Ryan Timothy Chiappe, 47, was sentenced April 24 to 15 months on a conditional sentence order for the case of intimate partner violence.
For the first five months, he will live under round-the-clock house arrest. For the next five months, he will be under curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
He will also spend three years on probation and must provide a DNA sample.

The Prince George RCMP said it began investigating Chiappe in fall 2024 when a victim came forward. The Serious Crimes Unit took over.
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, the Prince George RCMP’s public information officer, said help is available and there are many avenues to report intimate partner violence.
“While highlighting the courage it takes to report domestic abuse, this case had a positive outcome with respect to holding the offender accountable,” Cooper said.
Chiappe, who was nicknamed “Ruthless” during his 10-8 MMA career, was also sentenced in 2015 to two years probation for possessing stolen property and 30 days in jail in 2017 for a drug offence.
