An Ontario man has quickly become known to Vancouver police after recently arriving in the city.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says he was arrested Tuesday and is facing multiple charges in connection to a pair of incidents.
Officers responded to the scene in the Mount Pleasant area around 11:30 am when a concerned citizen reported that a man was yelling profanities.
Upon arrival, police saw the 37-year-old “throw an object at a vehicle” and attempted to arrest him.
Although the man attempted to flee, officers were able to track him down in a nearby bush and take him into custody.
While the man was being held in custody, the VPD learned of an earlier report from a nearby restaurant involving the alleged assault of a staff member.
The restaurant worker suffered a dislocated shoulder and the suspect description matched the Ontario man already arrested.
“The suspect has recently arrived in Vancouver and has been the subject of over five calls to police this week,” explained Cst. Megan Lui. “The assault appears to have been unprovoked, and the motive is unknown at this time.”
Victor Coscarella has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer, and is being held in custody until a bail hearing.
