A woman was killed by a falling tree limb while walking along a Chilliwack trail on Monday.
The tragic incident happened shortly after 3 pm near a dog park at Island 22 as the mother of five was walking with two of her young children.
According to police, weather was “severe and unpredictable” at the time, marked by strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Tori Meade of Chilliwack.

The RCMP says two bystanders rendered assistance to her until first responders could arrive and attempt life-saving measures, but Meade was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the BC Coroners Service investigation is ongoing, police noted that there is “no indication of this being anything other than a tragic and unforeseen event.”
The children were not physically harmed during the incident and the RCMP thanked the bystanders for acting quickly to help Meade and care for her children.
A GoFundMe to support Meade’s family during this unfathomable time has raised around $24,000 as of Wednesday night.
It described her as “a loving partner and irreplaceable part of many lives” who will be “profoundly missed.”
She leaves behind her partner Nicholas, daughters Adley and Athena, son Khai and stepdaughters Adrianna and Grace.
The fundraiser explains that the family is facing “unexpected financial burdens” alongside their grief and any donation is deeply appreciated.
